Sam and I will attempt to keep our friends’ five chickens (including one broody hen) alive and well for the next few days while they are out of town. Day one = a success! Plus we got two eggs.

Swim lessons canceled this afternoon, too hot and humid to go outside, Sam and I chilled indoors and wrote. I’m working on an article for Dig Magazine on the construction of the Eiffel Tower. Sam is working on a short story called, “Sir Richard the Pancake.” The bad guys are waffles. But of course.

The Indigo Girls with Joan Baez at Charlottesville’s downtown Pavilion. Baez still has an amazing voice even at age 72 (!) and the Indigo Girls took me back to my college years with one strum of the guitar.
