We have a bat in the dining room.
Quite appropriate for the cemetery garden in fall, no? The shroud, aka floating row cover, is supposed to shield the broccoli and lettuce from the nippy temperatures that have befallen Virginia.
Yes, I braved my 25th high school reunion! And got to see some cool people I haven’t seen in 25 years. My class’s reunion area was on the second floor of the Mansion–what we called the convent where the sisters lived. We also had religion and foreign language classes there. This is one of the […]
Women’s Soccer. Virginia trounced Miami 4-0 and I have to say, those girls really have some crazy mad soccer skills. The game was so entertaining, it took our minds off the 40-degree temps (!) The hot chocolate helped, too.
Final harvest of peppers tonight (jalapeños, green bell and gypsies) since it’s supposed to get near freezing tonight. And speaking of freezing, guess I’ll be freezing some peppers for the winter!

(Guest Photographer: Nathalie!) The Long Jump event at our monthly history club’s exploration of the Ancient Greek Olympics. I was running the discus throw event and Nathalie was kind enough to get this great shot and share it with me.
Lo and behold one of our Valencia Orange peppers ripened almost to orange. The cemetery garden did really well by its peppers. The jalapeños keep on coming, too.
Kitsy, Salmon and Brother came for breakfast.
All dressed up to go to the Mini-Maker Fair with her father today. The plushie puppy is actually an “epi-puppy”–an epi-pen carrier that Sam can wear around her waist. Sam loves it and it has made carrying the epi-pen a lot more fun for her. Unfortunately she came home from the fair feverish and ill. […]
