The desk is new to Sam. Grand-mère had it for 68 years. Before that it belonged to HER grandmother. Before that (I think) it belonged to Grand-mère’s great-grandmother. That means that Sam is now the proud owner of a desk that once belonged to her great-great-great grandmother!
