I get my hair washed and trimmed at the hairdresser! Clean hair goes a long way toward making me feel human again.
AC, Uncle John, Mom-Mom, and Sam play a game of “Sorry” while my sorry self (still very sick) watches on.
All three of us are sick, but Christmas is coming. We pack up the sleigh, me in the back, and ride north.
“Mad Men” is getting me through the hours I’m not sleeping.
Four days post surgery I came down with the flu. Hard.
The day after my surgery, Sam came down with the flu. Today she was well enough to make me a salad, though, while AC went into work for a couple of hours.
The good news: all went well with surgery yesterday. They gave me a nerve block which is supposed to last 12-24 hours. As I write this, my foot and lower leg are still completely numb. I’m on pain meds already, though, for when the block subsides, which it can apparently do quite precipitously. Foot will […]
(Blogging while I have a lucid moment). Here’s what the surgeon removed from my left foot.
Whoohoo! Just as I was despairing of ever getting the pool table off of our driveway, someone bought it and carried it away this afternoon. Now I don’t have to worry about backing the car into it anymore. Of course, I won’t be backing the car up at all for at least 6 weeks. Surgery […]
We were hoping to sell the pool table at last this weekend. We lowered the price, had a number of interested responses, two people said they’d come see it, and… it is still with us Sunday night. Would-be buyers on Craigslist are flakier than a box of corn flakes.
Short walk on the Old Mill Trail on a beautiful day.
When a homeschooling mom organized an ornament craft fair a few weeks ago, I volunteered to bring a craft, and then backed out, feeling overcommitted (3 days till surgery!) When Sam learned that “we” had backed out of the fair, she was horrified. Aghast. And she quickly took matters into her own hands. She devised […]
I ran a Haiku unit during our monthly history club meeting. (This month’s topics included medieval Japan). I worked with two groups that self-separated along gender lines. The boys wrote a haiku about an octopus: Stretching gracefully The water’s blackened with ink He is a rainbow The girls wrote a haiku about a kitten: The […]
6 days until surgery and I go into hibernation mode. Now I have a buddy to hibernate with. Thanks, Mom!
